What is this service?

All new motor carriers are subject to a New Entrant Safety Audit within the first 12 months of receiving operating authority. Who needs it?

Any motor carrier that has received operating authority in the past year. The FMCSA will schedule a new entrant safety audit — either in person or remotely — to verify that your operation has the basic safety management controls in place. This is not optional and cannot be avoided.

What happens if they do not file or comply?

Failing the new entrant safety audit can result in the FMCSA issuing a Notice to Comply. If you do not pass within 60 days, your operating authority will be revoked. This ends your ability to haul freight legally and can have lasting consequences for your safety rating.
