What is this service?

The International Registration Plan (IRP) is an agreement among U.S. states and Canadian provinces that allows commercial vehicles to operate in multiple jurisdictions under a single apportioned license plate. The Trucker Consultant helps carriers apply for or renew their IRP-apportioned plate registrations with their base state.

Who needs it?

Any motor carrier operating a commercial vehicle over 26,000 lbs — or a vehicle with three or more axles, regardless of weight — in two or more IRP member jurisdictions is required to register under the IRP. This is one of the most common requirements for over-the-road truckers.

What happens if they do not file or comply?

Operating without apportioned plates in multiple states can result in citations and fines in every state you enter. You would also be required to purchase separate trip permits for each state, which is expensive and inconvenient compared to maintaining an IRP registration.

How much do you charge?

Contact us for current pricing on IRP apportioned plate registration.

How fast can you complete it?

IRP registration timelines depend on your base state's processing time. We typically complete our assistance portion within 2–5 business days.
