MCS-150 Biennial Update

What is this service?

The MCS-150 is the Motor Carrier Identification Report filed with the FMCSA. All registered motor carriers are required to update their MCS-150 every two years (biennially) to keep their DOT Number active and their business information current. Every motor carrier with a USDOT Number is required to file an MCS-150 update every two years. The filing must be done in the month of the carrier's birthday year based on their USDOT Number. Carriers are also required to file an update any time there is a change to their business information.

Failure to file the biennial MCS-150 update results in your USDOT Number being placed in inactive status. An inactive DOT Number can affect your insurance, your authority, and your ability to legally operate. The FMCSA can also issue civil penalties for knowingly operating with an inactive registration.
